The Battle with God
Exodus 12:1-23

* We have many battles in our lives. But there is one battle we all have face or will face. The battle with the destroyer. If we have the blood applied to our lives or not. This was the first Passover. The reason this is a battle is because if we are not on the Lords side, we are enemies with God.
Phil. 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ
Col. 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Rom. 5:10 when we were enemies.

If the Blood was not applied they were to suffer the same fate as the Egyptians. This Battle of the Destroyer was to……or of………

1. Power; 11:4,5

A. Pharaoh thought himself to be a god, and his first born was in line for the throne making him a god to.
B. the Egyptians thought there was power in Pharaoh
C. God is the only one who has power over life and death

2. Placement; 11:7

A. difference between the Egyptians and Israel, lost and saved
B. whose side are you on? Can you imagine being a Hebrew and you have noticed your family has not applied the blood. You may not live like the Egyptians but you will die with them if the blood has not been applied.

3. Personal lamb; 12:1-5

A. a lamb vs. 3, the lamb vs. 4, your lamb vs. 5
B. John 2:13-16 personal lamb (if you had to buy it it’s not personal) Even though their forefathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, were Gods chosen people, they still had to have the blood applied. You can’t ride on mama’s and daddy’s coat tail.

4. Purging; 12:8-11

A. they had to apply the blood vs.7 covered by the blood of the lamb
B. they not only had to apply the blood, but they had to eat the flesh, vs. 8 communion of the lamb.
C. Roast it with fire, the lamb took the wrath of God for them vs. 9-10 consuming of fire by the lamb

5. Passing; 12: 12-13

A. the destroyer would pass over
B. death and destruction would pass if the blood was applied

6. Promise; 12: 23-25

7. Peace; 12:30-31

A. that night was a great cry heard throughout the land, the cry of death to those who had not applied the blood.
B. the destroyer ( the wrath of God) did battle on those who where not covered.
C. but there was peace in the houses where the blood was applied

Conclusion: if you are not saved if the blood has not been applied the Destroyer is coming to battle your house. Are you an enemy of God? That is the first battle we need to take care of, we need to get on Gods side, in the Lords Army.
