Make Thee an Ark!
Genesis 6:11-22
* God told Noah to build an ark, because judgment was coming. The earth had
become so much wickedness, and God was grieved because he had made man vs.
6. In vs. 7 God tells of the judgment to come, but in vs. 8 Noah found grace
in the eyes of the Lord. In vs. 14 God tells Noah to make an ark, God
provided a way out through the ark. Ark means a box, it also comes from the
same word we get coffin from, and from that word we get the word hope chest.
Why should we make an Ark?
1. Salvation in the Ark; 6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
A. God said in 7 vs. 1 “ Come thou and all thy house into the ark;”
B. God was in the Ark
C. Noah and his family was to be saved from the destruction to come
2. Sacrifices in the Ark; 6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
A. trees had to be cut down, type of Jesus
B. Noah sacrificed something’s to build the Ark, are you making sacrifices?
C. there were sacrifices in the Ark also 7:2
3. Security in the Ark; 7:16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.
A. The Lord shut him in
B. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
C. the key word is in
4. Safety in the Ark; 7:23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
A. Noah and his family didn’t escape the storm, but God kept them safe during the storm
B. Noah got his family in, who do you want to get into the Ark?
5. Sustaining blessing in the Ark; 8:4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
A. they never got sea sick
B. the Ark had no sail or rudder, for guidance Noah let it go where God wanted it to go.
C. God seen them through because they were in the Ark
Conclusion: are you building an Ark for you family, are you in the Ark?
